A Body’s Understanding
My research has developed through my interest in physical and non-physical ideas about the body. Constantly sensing my own materiality, I find relation and experiences with other material things/beings impossible to ignore. Creating art provides a place where I can enter and sort through my confusion about life, experiences of pain, loss, trauma, the passing of time, death, and a sense of hope. The act of making and seeing the outcome of artistic processes has evoked an internal empathy on which I base my practise, and I now see my body as a material thing, and a kind of container.
