Exhibition

Rhythm in Print: The Record as Art & Artefact
The aim of this exhibition is to bring together two artists: ‘Swifty’ ¬(London) and Mark Wallace (Dundee). They connect through a mutual passion for printed matter and packaging for sound, as well as underground black music.  This collaboration aims to investigate the record as an artefact. What are the artistic and pragmatic limits for packaging for sound in ways that go beyond the standard mass-produced format? How may a 21st C. perspective at the intersection of art and music find new expression through the media of print?

This proposal aims to show how printmaking media may be tailored to the aesthetic qualities of the music, reflecting close collaborative bonds between the visual and auditory, between print and sound.
