Bird of Passage is a collaborative print project between artists Ross Hamilton Frew, Sarah
Laing and Gayle Meikle. The title refers to the name given to migrants or travellers who move from place to place. The three artists aim to embark on a period of research throughout the UK visiting various locations of interest along the way. Through these research trips which will range from Northumbria University’s PSN facility to a travellers graveyard in Dingwall, the three artists will explore the medium of print through the eyes of a traveller, culminating in an off the grid laboratory and think tank in Glasgow’s nomadic residency centre the Walled Garden. Bound by their common interest in printed ephemera, multiples and travel, the artists will gather, make, discuss and experiment with the medium of print. Their findings will be presented to the public on Friday 30th Saturday the 31st of August.
