Biography

Dougie Kinnear graduated from DJCAD with a 1st class BDes(Hons) Jewellery & Metal Degree.

Interested in wearable technology, his undergraduate work saw him develop a concept where jewellery coupled with RFID technology could identify the wearer to health professionals. 

As Imprints Technician, he has been producing prototypes using an UP! 3D printer. This ranges from equipment enclosures to jewellery and other wearables and also includes experimenting with materials.

While 3D printing is becoming more mainstream a future where every home has a 3D printer is some way off, however, access to relatively cheap additive manufacturing based 3D printers like the UP! has revolutionised physical prototyping.
