Open Folio

Traditional and contemporary examples of underglaze tissue printed ceramics.
As part of a current research project at CFPR, UWE I have been learning about the tradition of underglaze decoration used in the Potteries. This very distinctive process is an integral part of English ceramic history yet due to the high level of skill and labour involved it has almost been lost. This project looks at introducing more contemporary methods and materials, allowing for the introduction of new patterns and the production of new ceramic multiples.
On display will be samples of copper, flexo and lasered plates along with printed wares.
This session will follow a paper on the same subject, delivered by Professor Steve Hoskins.
