Biography

Cork Printmakers is a permanent, non-profit making fine art print workshop providing facilities, materials, support and artistic opportunities for both established and emerging artists. Activities include national and international exhibitions of members’ work, adult education and artist-in-schools programmes, as well as public lectures and artist residencies.

A state of the art facility based in Cork City Centre, Cork Printmakers is a dynamic and vibrant place to work and currently facilitates over 85 member artists.

CIT Crawford College of Art & Design (CCAD) is a vibrant multi-campus College in Cork, Ireland, which has been providing education in the arts for over 200 years. The Department of Fine Art & Ceramic Design is an inspiring and dynamic place in which to study and develop artistic practice. Based in the centre of Cork, there is direct access to a very lively contemporary visual arts scene of artists, art professionals and institutions with whom we regularly engage on collaborative projects. The emphasis within our art programmes is on an open and experimental exploration grounded in historical context and current critical debate about contemporary art practices.

Illustrated Talk

POST-IT
A collaborative Print Project Exhibition between Cork Printmaker and CIT Crawford College of Art & Design, both based in CORK, IRELAND. The project involved inviting artists to use poster sites to display artwork across the City of Dundee. This project is a conduit for the dissemination of thoughts and ideas on the notion of Borders and Crossings: the artists as explorer and encompasses notions of cultural, philosophical, spiritual, whimsical and the sublime, when you see a poster site that is not telling you what to buy, where to go, who to trust, it carries the impact of the unexpected. 80 poster-sites will display work across the City of Dundee for the duration of IMPACT8. We have chosen poster-sites because they are immediate, they help to take the artwork out of its usual context and setting and seeing images produced in such a way is both exciting and fresh for both organisations. The project was supported and prefaced by vibrant and provocative series of artists’ talks hosted at CIT Crawford College of Art & Design.
