LK243 UnderSail – a sailing residency
Imi Maufe was artist in residence onboard the Swan during the Tall Ships Races 2011, which sailed from Ireland to Sweden, via Shetland. After the voyage Maufe spent on month in North Uist and Shetland before returning to Norway to complete the project using the printing facilities at Trykkeriet Bergen. The result of the residency fits in a specially designed Bunk Box containing a series of 10 screenprints, two editioned books, laser-cut wooden postcards sent by sea, 500 boat drawings, screenprinted curtians, a short film and other artefacts. The Bunk Box can been seen in the bookart exhibition.
