Biography

Lecturer in Product Design at Robert Gordon University, but with a fine art background in printmaking. After graduating from the Royal College of Art Printmaking Dept., he undertook a practice based PhD examining environmental impact of both materials and art practices on the work of printmakers. Has long standing interest in computer-aided-manufacturing technologies, 3D scanning and CAD platforms, most usually associated with complex manufactured topologies. Current research examines impact that rapid developments in manufacturing technology are having in embedding new design led innovation models within a rural economic context, towards the development of more sustainable creative communities. Has published and presented at numerous international conferences, supervises a number of PhD student’s work across both Design and Fine Art disciplines, together with exhibition of his own computer based art works and prints.
