Nature of the Place
The complex relationships between natural and manufactured landscapes and the importance of sustaining environmental biodiversity are recurring themes in Menard’s work.  Historical, cultural and scientific research is combined with personal observations to provide rich material that feeds her curiosity.  The work is detailed and open ended to encourage contemplation and dialogue about our role in helping nature and the environment withstand the pressures, stresses and tests of our times. So far, Menard remains optimistic, as nature has proven adaptable, transformative and resilient.
