Submission Guidelines

Guidelines for submissions:

Deadline: 30th November 2012

Please complete all sections on the submissions page marked with an asterisk *. Further sections are optional.

There is no limit on how many proposals can be made – though a separate submission must be made for each one. For example, if you wish to submit two academic papers, and an exhibition, then three separate submissions must be completed.

Collaborative or joint proposals are welcome but each presenter must make a personal submission (including identical abstracts) indicating clearly that it is a joint proposal and with whom.

Academic Papers:

Academic papers will be published in full and will be required in advance of the event in preparation for publication (a deadline will be announced after approval of papers).

Each presentation should be limited to 20 minutes – approximately 3000 words of text for print and can be accompanied by the appropriate number of images. (subject to print editorial).

In the first instance please go to the submissions page and submit the following:

  • an abstract of approximately 300 words
  • up to x3 representational jpeg images (if appropriate)
  • a biography of approximately 100 words
  • a photograph (jpeg) of yourself

The abstracts will be double blind refereed and you will be informed of selection early in the New Year.

Illustrated Talks:

Illustrated talks should be limited to 20 minutes. The abstract will be printed in the publication, along with the submitted biography, and can be accompanied by the appropriate number of images. (subject to print editorial).

In the first instance please go to the submissions page and submit the following:

  • an abstract of approximately 300 words
  • up to x3 representational jpeg images (if appropriate)
  • a biography of approximately 100 words
  • a photograph (jpeg) of yourself

Themed Panels:

Panel discussions will be allocated 1 hour. The abstract will be printed in the publication, along with the submitted biographies of panel members, and can be accompanied by the appropriate number of images. (subject to print editorial).

There will be an opportunity to publish any documentation or reflective text/summary on the Impact 8 website, after the event, in a section that will be created for publication supplements and documentation.

In the first instance please go to the submissions page and submit the following:

  • an abstract of approximately 300 words
  • x1 jpeg image to represent each member of the panel (if appropriate)
  • a biography of approximately 100 words (for each panel member)
  • a photograph (jpeg) of each panel member

Proposals will be reviewed by the Impact 8 organising committee and selections confirmed early in the New Year.

Exhibitions:

A number of exhibition spaces are available on campus for temporary conference presentations. Proposals should include an outline of the exhibition and also a breakdown of specs: dimensions and quantity of works and further requirements such as equipment or specific conditions such as lighting etc.

In the first instance please go to the submissions page and submit the following:

  • an abstract of approximately 300 words
  • up to x3 representational jpeg images
  • a biography of approximately 100 words (exhibition proposer(s) only)
  • a photograph (jpeg) of exhibition proposer(s)

The selected exhibitions will be allocated an available space which best suits their requirements and an offer made to the proposer. The hanging and removal of all artwork will be the responsibility of the proposer/delegate as per the individual proposal.

The exhibition abstract/outline will be printed in the publication, along with the submitted biographies of exhibition delegates and list of exhibition artists. This can be accompanied by the appropriate number of images. (subject to print editorial).

For exhibitions that contain performative elements, there will be an opportunity to publish any documentation or reflective text/summary on the Impact 8 website, after the event, in a section that will be created for publication supplements and documentation.

Proposals will be reviewed by the Impact 8 organising committee and selections confirmed early in the New Year.

Poster Presentations:

An academic poster session will be scheduled for the presentation and discussion of research ideas and projects – either completed or in progress. A poster board or equivalent fixed wall area (1 – 1.5 m wide) will be allocated for each presentation and appropriate furniture provided.

The poster abstract will be printed in the publication, along with the submitted biography, and can be accompanied by the appropriate number of images. (subject to print editorial).

  • up to x3 representational jpeg images (if appropriate)
  • a biography of approximately 100 words
  • a photograph (jpeg) of yourself

Abstracts will be peer reviewed and selections confirmed early in the New Year.

Open Folios:

An open folio session will be scheduled for the presentation and discussion of print collections and folios. Appropriate furniture (table and chairs) will be provided for presentation. Please indicate if anything further is required – such as a power source.

The folio outline will be printed in the publication, along with the submitted biography, and can be accompanied by the appropriate number of images. (subject to print editorial).

  • a folio outline of approximately 300 words
  • up to x3 representational jpeg images (if appropriate)
  • a biography of approximately 100 words (folio presenter(s) only)
  • a photograph (jpeg) of folio presenter(s)

Abstracts will be peer reviewed and selections confirmed early in the New Year.

Workshop Demonstrations/Masterclass:

Proposals for workshop demonstrations or master classes should include a brief description of the proposed activity and an initial outline list of equipment and materials required as well as an estimate of workshop time required.

The workshop outline will be printed in the publication, along with the submitted biography, and can be accompanied by the appropriate number of images. (subject to print editorial).

There will be an opportunity to publish any documentation or reflective text/summary on the Impact 8 website, after the event, in a section that will be created for publication supplements and documentation.

  • an outline of the proposed demo/class of approximately 300 words (plus an additional list of requirements)
  • up to x3 representational jpeg images (if appropriate)
  • a biography of approximately 100 words
  • a photograph (jpeg) of yourself.
